Tanz im August release complete programme
Tanz im August 2017 strives to celebrate Berlin as a global dance city. From 11 August 2017, the 29th edition of the Berlin festival Tanz im August will show world premieres and numerous new works from different generations of choreographers with diverse artistic practices ranging from flamenco to butoh, from ballet to dance theatre and contemporary performance. Tanz im August is honouring the Spanish choreographer La Ribot with the comprehensive retrospective Occuuppatiooon!, which presents her works from 1993-2016, including a significant selection of her live performances and films.

Presale for Tanz im August 2017 begins on Wednesday, 19 April. Festival opening on 11 August with choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly at HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU1). Further highlights, including at Haus der Berliner Festspiele, are: Michael Clark Company and two German premieres by Rocío Molina and Mathilde Monnier & Alan

Once again the Berlin Festival Tanz im August becomes the centre of the international world of contemporary dance. Until the beginning of September, altogether 65 performances will take place at eight venues in Berlin. HAU Hebbel am Ufer prolongs artistic director Virve Sutinen’s contract for two years. Tickets are still available for nearly all of the performances online or at the door.


The program of the 28th Tanz im August features contemporary classics, performances from a new generation of New York artists, and a range of new works from international and Berlin-based choreographers.
