Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon

Trois Grandes Fugues

Lucinda Childs / Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker / Maguy Marin

Festival Opening
Duration: 80 min including intermission

The Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon extends an invitation to an unusual evening of contrasts: three well-known representatives of contemporary dance, Lucinda Childs, Maguy Marin and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, devised choreographies to Beethoven’s Große Fuge, from 1825. Whether vibrating study, dynamic struggle or clear analysis, the fugue is reinterpreted by each choreography. Trois Grandes Fugues makes the composition visible and audible in highly different ways – and at the same time reflects on the complex relationship between classical music and contemporary dance.
